On February 5, 2016, the State Enterprise «Ukrainian Institute of Intellectual Property» (Ukrpatent) started operating as International Searching and Preliminary Examination Authority (ISA/IPEA) under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) as well as an Authority designated for carrying out Supplementary searches. Today Ukrpatent is a competent institution aimed at an international search as well as an international preliminary examination of international applications filed by Ukrainian applicants to Ukrpatent as a Receiving Office.

Today Ukrpatent is a competent institution aimed at an international search as well as an international preliminary examination of international applications filed by Ukrainian applicants to Ukrpatent as a Receiving Office.

It should be noted that Ukrainian applicants may choose among Ukrpatent, European Patent Office or Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property as ISA/IPEA. Taking this into consideration, Ukrainian applicants have already chosen Ukrpatent as ISA/IPEA in a series of international applications. We appreciate their trust and work hard strictly following the terms of international searches as well as international preliminary examination ensuring high quality thereof.

In the near future Ukrainian and international community will have the opportunity to find the first Ukrpatent’s international search reports on the website of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and evaluate the level of our work. The results of the first Ukrpatent’s international search were sent to the applicant as well as to the International Bureau of WIPO at the beginning of June, 2016.
