The State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine informs that the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Intellectual Property Institute" begins operating as an International Searching Authority and International Preliminary Examining Authority under the Patent Cooperation Treaty.
The State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine (SIPS) informs that the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Intellectual Property Institute" (Ukrpatent) begins operating as an International Searching Authority (ISA) and International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA) under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).
Ukrpatent has become the 20th International Searching Authority and International Preliminary Examining Authority in the world along with the leading offices like the European Patent Office, the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Japan Patent Office, Canadian Intellectual Property Office, Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, Israel Patent Office etc.
This significant event is the result of concluding on 27 November 2015 by the Director General of WIPO, Francis Gurry, and the Chairwoman of SIPS, Alla Zharinova, Agreement between the State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine and the International Bureau of the World Intellectual Property Organization in relation to the functioning of the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Intellectual Property Institute" as ISA and IPEA under the PCT.
Ukrpatent begins operating as an International Searching Authority and International Preliminary Examining Authority, as well as an Authority specified for supplementary search, with effect from 5 February 2016.
Furthermore, with effect from this date, Ukrpatent is competent in carrying out international search and international preliminary examination for international applications filed with Ukrpatent as receiving Office.
