On February 6-10, 2017, Reykjavik, Iceland, hosted the 24th session of the Meeting of International Search Authorities (ISA) and International Preliminary Examination Authorities (IPEA) (International Authorities) Quality Subgroup under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT/MIA), in which Maria Vasylenko, Head of the IP Legal Method Department, and Yulia Kolotilova, Head of the Division for Quality Control and Improvement of Examination for Inventions, Utility Models and Integral Circuits Topographies took part.
On February 6-10, 2017, Reykjavik, Iceland, hosted the 24th session of the Meeting of International Search Authorities (ISA) and International Preliminary Examination Authorities (IPEA) (International Authorities) Quality Subgroup under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT/MIA), in which Maria Vasylenko, Head of the IP Legal Method Department, and Yulia Kolotilova, Head of the Division for Quality Control and Improvement of Examination for Inventions, Utility Models and Integral Circuits Topographies took part.
As of March 5, 2016, the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Intellectual Property Institute” (Ukrpatent) commenced its work as an International Search Authority and International Preliminary Examination Authority, which attaches great significance to the participation of our delegates in the said events.
In particular, a platform was provided for discussion with the specialists from other states of topical issues on the functioning of International Search Authorities/ International Preliminary Examination Authorities, as well as on monitoring the quality of examination carried out by these Authorities.
Besides, crucial information was obtained on the PCT online services; requirements to abstracts and front page drawings; collaborative search and examination under the PCT; standard for the presentation of nucleotide and amino acid sequence listings in applications filed under the PCT; the use of national classification symbols and further work along the lines of monitoring the quality of international searches and international preliminary examination; PCT online services development; examiner training and international cooperation practices when carrying out international searches and preliminary examination; proper approaches to the execution of international applications. All of the above has great significance for improving the quality of the examination of international applications and for carrying out of international searches and international preliminary examination in Ukrpatent in line with the world’s best practices in this sphere and the current trends in the World Intellectual Property Organization.
