Elsevier B.V. as one of the leading publishing and analytics companies specializing in provision of scientific, technical and medical content for many years is a key partner of the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Intellectual Property Institute" (Ukrpatent) in providing access to foreign commercial information Internet resources (Reaxys, Reaxys Medicinal Chemistry, Embase databases and ScienceDirect ArticleChoice service) which ensure Ukrpatent examiners with access to the PCT minimum documentation (patent documentation and non-patent literature), condemns the Russian invasion of Ukraine and joins the call for an immediate cease fire to protect civilians and restore peace:
“We stand with the people of Ukraine and are committed to supporting our colleagues and the research and healthcare communities we serve that are impacted by the unfolding humanitarian crisis. We have suspended all sales of our products and services in Russia and Belarus since the war started, except for a few health products to support clinicians and health students in providing medical and patient care.”
Together with sister companies, Elsevier is donating $1 million to the UNICEF Ukraine Appeal, Red Cross and other aid organizations in Ukraine and bordering countries to support efforts to provide immediate protection and medical and emergency supplies. Additionally, Elsevier is making its products freely available to medical students, nurses and clinicians in Ukraine to help them continue their vital work.
