On April 26, 2022, the State Enterprise "Ukrainian Intellectual Property Institute" (Ukrpatent) together with the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland held an international online conference "Intellectual Property in the World of Games" on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day. Partnership support for the event was provided by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland.
The conference was opened by messages from the heads of the organizing offices, WIPO, and the ministries in charge. President of the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland Edyta Demby-Siwek congratulated the participants on the occasion of World IP Day and expressed support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people from the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland. WIPO Director General Daren Tang then congratulated the participants on the International IP Day in a video address, emphasizing the urgent need to develop the IP ecosystem in the global dimension, especially at the base level.
In turn, Andriy Demchuk, Director of the Intellectual Property Development Department of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, addressed the IP community, thanking WIPO, the Polish Patent Office, and all international partners for co-organizing the event and support in the difficult time of unjustified military aggression of Russia against Ukraine.
Ukrpatent Director General Andrew Kudin congratulated the participants on World IP Day and expressed deep respect to the Polish Patent Office and international partners from WIPO, the European Union IP Office, and the European Patent Office for the opportunity to continue working for the global IP system. The head of Ukrpatent stressed that even in such difficult times for Ukraine it is necessary not to forget about the development of knowledge and skills and joint projects that will have the maximum positive effect to support inventors, creators, and our economy.
Oleksii Tkachuk, Director of the Department for Examination of Applications for Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications of Ukrpatent, also congratulated the conference participants on the World IP Day and stressed that new knowledge will motivate young creators and bring great benefits to the global IP system.
The session was continued by Nataliia Huro, intellectual property professional of the IP Academy division of Ukrpatent. The specialist shared practical experience of introducing gamification into the educational process, drew attention to the main differences of the modern younger generation and new ways of conveying information in education.
