Protection of the intellectual property of Ukrainian startups in Ukraine is an essential component of innovative development and investment attractiveness of our country.
That is why the team of the IP Office joins the cooperation with the Ukrainian Startup Fund and will focus on advising developers and inventors on the importance of legal protection of the results of their activities. This was discussed at the meeting of the IP Office team with the Head and the team of the Ukrainian Startup Fund.
The task of the IP Office is that at the stage of projects selection by the Fund, we could explain the importance of identifying one's intellectual property and obtaining protection documents specifically in Ukraine, - said the Head of the IP Office, Olena Orliuk.
"One of the tasks of the IP office is consultation, why the issue of the IP legal protection of the creator should be considered when applying for a grant. That is when the Fund is still selecting projects, and it is already at this stage to explain to the inventor why he needs IP protection in Ukraine and which one in each specific case. After all, obtaining such protection in Ukraine will help startups retain their unique product when entering national and global markets.
In addition, this is also a matter of Ukraine's image because the increase in innovation activity affects the country's position in the Global Innovation Index, which, in turn, affects Ukraine's investment attractiveness. It's good when our developers get IP protection abroad, but we have to create all the conditions so that they are interested in protection in Ukraine directly as well."
