The dialogue on intellectual property rights between Ukraine and the EU is scheduled for autumn 2023. Holding a joint event of the Ministry of Economy with the participation of the IP office and the delegation of the European Commission was discussed at a meeting between the Head of Trade and Economic Section in EU Delegation to Ukraine, Alberto Fernández-Díez, and the Head of the IP Office, Olena Orliuk. The dialogue will take place within the framework of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in the IP sphere. Attention was paid to the current state of IP institutional reform.
In particular, Olena Orliuk presented the Strategic Plan of the IP Office. The EU Delegation to Ukraine assessed the anti-corruption policy and transparency of the IP office.
"The anti-corruption policy and transparency of the IP office's activities received positive feedback from our European colleagues. Separately, we talked about the involvement of the IP office in IPR protection, our qualification characteristics regarding the continuation of work as an ISA, work with the examination, and the field of collective management. We planned to hold an IPR dialogue with European colleagues in the fall," concluded the meeting Head of the IP Office, Olena Orliuk.
In addition, progress made in reforming the sphere of intellectual property was discussed, including implementing the adopted laws on patents, trademarks, and copyright; the war-related challenges the NIPA faces and the prospects for international cooperation and support (WIPO, EUIPO, EPO).
The meeting took place at the EU Delegation to Ukraine. The participants were Alberto Fernández-Díez, Head of Trade and Economic Section of the EU Delegation to Ukraine; Oksana Popruga, a specialist in the economic policy of the Trade and Economic Section of the EU Delegation to Ukraine; Olena Orliuk, Head of the IP Office, Bohdan Paduchak, head of the group of advisors of the IP office.
