The International Forum on Combating Counterfeiting and Piracy to be held in Kiev on 24 April 2015 is a high level event involving top governmental officials.
Organisers: Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, State Intellectual Property Service of Ukraine, International Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine (ICC Ukraine), State Enterprise “Ukrainian Institute of Industrial Property”.
Aim of the Forum: searching for ways to improve strategies for combating counterfeiting and piracy, being among prominent problems worldwide, as well as implementation of further reforms in the IPR protection and enforcement systems in Ukraine aimed at the development of civilised market and favourable investment climate within the state.
It is planned to establish a platform for discussion with the involvement of top governmental officials, national and foreign IPR holders, CEOs of multinational corporations and leading international experts in the field of IPR enforcement.
To ensure the best coverage of worldwide experiences in fighting counterfeiting and piracy, the organisers of the Forum have invited representatives of the World customs organization (WCO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the ІСС Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy (BASCAP), EUROPOL, the French Union des Fabricants (UNIFAB), the Global Anti-Counterfeit Group (GACG), the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center (NIPRCC) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Danish Patent and Trademark Office, the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM), the International Association of Breeders of Vegetatively Reproduced Ornamental and Fruit Varieties (CIOPORA), the Ukraine Alliance Against Counterfeiting and Piracy (UAACP) and other international and organisations.
Furthermore, officials of the Ukrainian governmental agencies have also been invited, particularly representatives of the Ukraine Ministry of Interior, the State Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, the State Property Fund of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Agricultural Policy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the State Administration of Ukraine on Medicinal Products, the State Inspection of Ukraine on Consumer Rights Protection, the General Prosecutor Office of Ukraine and the courts.
The Forum will also involve representatives of the business community, particularly national and foreign rights holders, law firms, scientists and other stakeholders.
The expected number of attendees of the Forum is about 300-350 persons.
The format of presentations is a short 10-minute presentation on the proposed topic related to the relevant session, which will be followed by a joint moderated discussion of the issues raised in the presentations, as well as questions and answers to Forum attendees.
